DAVID Dunn is backing his stars to continue Lions’ promotion push after the Christmas celebrations.

The Chapel Gate outfit return to action following a three-week break when they travel to Amersham & Chiltern in National Three South West tomorrow.

Bournemouth’s 30-18 win over Exmouth left them top of the table by five points going into Christ-mas, although second-placed Chinnor have a game in hand.

Dunn told the Echo: “The lads are in good shape and they have had a couple of training sessions over the Christmas period. We have kept our eyes on them and kept them fit and we are ready to start round two.

“This is ‘Funny Saturday’ and we are very aware of that. It is the one time you can see the teams that have stayed together over the break and the ones that haven’t.

“The odd strange result always crops up on this first weekend back. We went to the top of the league before Christmas and we don’t want to surrender that now.”

Anthony Dunkerley and Ben Stewart are both unavailable for tomorrow’s clash, but Chris Hughes, Joe Tarrant and Dan Mallard all return to Dunn’s squad.
