FORMER Cherries skipper Jason Pearce has described as “a dream come true” the possibility of facing his boyhood heroes Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Pearce, who left Dean Court for Portsmouth in the summer, said he had been “absolutely buzzing” after yesterday’s third round draw had handed Pompey a trip to Stamford Bridge.

Watching the draw with his ex-Cherries team-mate Marc Pugh at his home in Eastleigh, Pearce admitted he had jumped around his living room when Pompey came out of the hat after Chelsea.

Pearce, who lists his footballing idol as Chelsea skipper John Terry, was a regular on the terraces at Stamford Bridge when he was growing up after being introduced to the Blues by his father Andy whose twin brother Clive is a season ticket holder.

He told the Daily Echo: “I always used to go with my dad when I was younger and it was always a dream of mine to play a competitive game at Stamford Bridge.

“A lot of my family are Chelsea fans and have already said they are going to get tickets and sit in the Chelsea end. I don’t think there will be any support for me!

“If I am fortunate enough to play, I would love to help us cause an upset. All their players are world class and it would be brilliant to pit my wits against them.

“I know they aren’t having the greatest of runs and have had a few bad results recently, but they won at Newcastle on Saturday and that was a good result. They may be having a tough time at the moment but I don’t think there is ever a good time to play Chelsea.”
