TOM Killick was left to rue an exceptional goalkeeping display after Poole Town had failed to find a way past Halesowen Town’s Paul Evans in a 0-0 stalemate.
The Yeltz stopper saved a Micky Hubbard penalty and continued to thwart Dolphins’ attempts as he secured a point for the hosts at The Grove.
Poole manager Killick was pleased with his players’ response following two league defeats in a row But he was a frustrated spectator as Evans took centre stage.
Killick said: “We had numerous chances but their goalkeeper was brilliant and deservedly won the man-of-the-match award.
“Steve Smith and Michael Walker went close and their keeper tipped a header from Kane Daysh, which was going in the top corner, round the post.
“We played really well. We were away from home and it was a long trip, but we were the stronger team throughout.”
Killick also praised the display of fit-again midfielder Glenn Howes. The Dolphins boss added: “Glenn Howes is a class act. We had missed him in the past few weeks. If we can keep him fit, he’s going to be a massive player for us.”
Dolphins: Hutchings, S Clarke, Walker, Daysh, Spetch, Preston, Hubbard, Howes, Gill (Herbert, 60), Jeffes (Joyce, 70), Cann (S Smith, 85). Unused subs: Richardson, Brooks.
