CHERRIES boss Lee Bradbury revealed his interest in signing Freddy Eastwood but then admitted financial limitations could make any swoop unlikely.

Bradbury is a big admirer of his former Southend team-mate and is on the look-out for further reinforcements to boost his injury-hit attacking resources.

Having been told last week by Coventry City that he could find another club, Eastwood appears surplus to requirements at the Ricoh Arena.

The striker who cost the Sky Blues £1.2million three years ago has proven pedigree in both League One and the Championship – with more than 80 goals to his name in the pro ranks.

However, Eastwood is reportedly one of Coventry’s biggest earners and it is unclear whether a fee would also be required.

Bradbury believes Eastwood, who also played alongside Darryl Flahavan and Adam Barrett at Southend, could be out of Cherries’ price range.

When asked by the Daily Echo about Eastwood following Saturday’s draw against Rochdale, the Cherries manager said: “I played with Freddy and he is a very good player.

“Financially, I don’t know if we would be able to agree a deal because I think he was on a decent deal at Coventry.

“But, yes, he is a great player and someone I would sign.

“But I have got limitations to what I can do and he is a Championship player, and he would probably want to stay there.”

Bradbury last week completed the signing of Havant & Waterlooville playmaker Wes Fogden on a three-year deal.

When asked whether that was the end of his recruitment, he added: “At this minute, yes.”

• Cherries informed the Echo on Tuesday morning that it would not be possible to interview chairman Eddie Mitchell regarding various off-field matters.
