DORSET’S Lee James boosted his European Tour School fund with another high finish on the TP Tour series at Berkamsted on Wednesday.
The 1994 British Amateur champion carded a one-under-par 70 for a share of fourth place – three shots behind old adversary Francis McGuirk.
James won £325 for his efforts, while McGuirk pocketed the £2,000 first prize after a play-off with European Tour star Paul Broadhurst.
McGuirk is an Open qualifier at St George’s after finishing in the top three at his home course Prince’s late last month.
James, meanwhile, has until the start of September to decide whether or not he can afford to attend this year’s European Tour School.
The six-time Challenge Tour winner has won three times on the Jamega Tour this season, and has amassed more than £20,000 in prize money.
