SIX missing stars of Wimborne Town’s 1992 FA Vase triumph are being sought to take part in a high profile charity match this weekend.

Alex Pike’s Wembley heroes will reunite at Cuthbury on Sunday (3pm kick-off) to lock horns with an all-time Wessex League XI.

But the match organisers have yet to contact the Magpies sextet of Mark Allan, Brian Wilkins, Dominic Barrett, Steve Hudspith, Paul Launder and Stuart Bright.

It is hoped they can be tracked down in time to take their places in the squad for the fixture, with all proceeds going towards the Dorset Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Sturminster Marshall.

Pike, now manager of Gosport Borough, will be back in the home dugout, having been dismissed from the away technical area when Boro lost to his former club last weekend.

His side will include a number of the major players from the memorable success 19 years ago, with Kevin Leonard, still playing for Hamworthy Recreation, set to start between the sticks.

Captain Taffy Richardson, who remains a key man in Poole Town’s midfield and could complete a fairytale Vase double this season, will also feature.

Dolphins manager Tom Killick, a two-goal hero in the ’92 final, may also dust off his boots to take his place in attack alongside Wimborne first-team coach Jamie Sturgess, who also struck twice in the Wembley showpiece.

The Wessex League squad includes some stellar names from the non-league world and will be captained by league legend Jimmy Sheppard.

Former Bashley and Lymington and New Milton skipper Sheppard holds seven Wessex championship medals and is now involved with Sway Football Club.

He will be joined by the likes of veteran goalkeeper Wayne Shaw, now plying his trade with Sutton United, midfielders Ben Thomson and David Hughes, frontman Nicky Banger and, subject to availability, Andy Forbes, the all-time leading Wessex League goalscorer.

The Wessex side will be managed by a combination of Neil Hards, Graham Kemp, who could also play in defence, Ray Murphy and Roger Sherwood.

That management quartet selected their combined Wessex squad, listed below, although some players are unavailable to play on Sunday.
