I went along to The Studio at Dean Court and met with my Personal Trainer, Steve Legg.

Steve took me to see Lucy Sloane in the Physiotherapy room and there I was submitted to being wired to a machine that would give me the bad news.

The bad news… 113.6kg with a BMI of 26% Steve said he would like the BMI to be down to 20% and he also identified that the majority of the excess fat is above the waist and therefore too close to the heart.

Next step was to put me through my paces with some basic exercise to establish my balance, posture and strength levels.

Generally speaking a painless exercise and there was good and bad news together. My balance and strength was good and apart from slightly rounded shoulders (sitting at a computer too much) and tight hamstrings it was pretty good.

In the blink of an eye - 48 hours actually – Steve created a personal training plan to rectify the problems in my shoulders and hamstrings as well burn off some of that unwanted fat.

When used in conjunction with my new reduced GI eating plan I hope I’ll start reshaping myself.

The numbers

Chest 45”

Waist 46”

Hips 45”

Bicep (R) 14”

Bicep (L) 13 ½”

Thigh (R) 25”

Thigh (L) 23”

Weight 113.6kg

BMI 26%

I’m planning on making two trips per week to the Studio to run through my programme and Steve or one of the other personal trainers will be keeping their collective eyes on me while they have other clients or classes.

If anyone has some good low GI and GL recipes out there then I’d be delighted to try them out and give you some feedback as the days and weeks go by...
