WIMBORNE’S hopes of avoiding the drop took a turn for the worst when fellow strugglers Wallingford truimphed 16-10 at Leigh Park.
All Blacks were punished for a slow start in the South West One East clash and trailed 16-0 early in the second half.
James Mikolajewski and Richard Brokenshire grabbed late tries for the Dorset outfit, but the damage had already been done.
Poor discipline cost Wimborne dear, with flanker Denny Champ sin-binned for 10 minutes, as Wallingford, who had won 40-15 at home, completed a priceless double in the battle to stay up.
Wimborne: Busby, R Brokenshire, Unwin, Hay, Roberts, Champ, Morgan (Wareham ht), O’Bryan, Llewellyn, Ansell, King, van Wyk, J Brokenshire, Mikolajewski, Maltman. Used subs: Tinsdale, Long.
