WIMBORNE manager Mark Sturney admits they won’t rush injured skipper Russ Tinsdale back into action despite their perilous position in South West One East.

Tinsdale misses All Blacks’ daunting trip to runaway leaders Maidenhead tomorrow (2pm) with a back problem.

The Leigh Park outfit’s captain has been plagued by the injury for most of the season and it has hindered the front row forward’s progress.

Sturney, whose side lost 42-15 at Maidenhead in October, said: “We’ve got to take it week by week with Russ.

“If we play him with an injury, we could put him out for the rest of the season.

“We’re going to need the experience players like Russ bring to our squad to hold it together, particularly during the latter part of the campaign.”

James Mikolajewski is unavailable for tomorrow’s clash through work commitments, but Jack Green will be back in the front row after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Phil Andrews and Jim Brokenshire also return to Wimborne’s squad.

Sturney, whose side will be aiming to bounce back from their demoralising 8-6 home defeat against fellow strugglers Bletchley, said: “If we get any league points out of Maidenhead it’ll be a bonus for us.

“They were relegated and we were promoted at the end of last season, so there is almost two divisions’ difference.”
