Cherries boss Eddie Howe appears to have turned down the opportunity to become the new manager of Crystal Palace.

Howe, who was at Canford School to take Cherries for training today, spent the weekend pondering an offer to replace George Burley in the Selhurst Park hot-seat.

But Palace are now believed to have turned their attentions to Rochdale boss Keith Hill who has become the new favourite for the post following an apparent rebuff by Howe.

Although Howe has made no official comment on the matter, reports in south London suggest Hill is now Palace’s number one target.

Howe is still being strongly linked with the vacant manager’s position at Charlton after Cherries agreed an official approach from the Addicks on Saturday.

Cherries are also bracing themselves for an approach from Burnley after the Clarets whittled down their short-list to Howe and Watford boss Malky Mackay.

However, with Cherries currently occupying the second automatic promotion berth in League One, Howe could yet decide to stay put at Dean Court. He is expected to give his decision to the Cherries board either later today or tomorrow.
