VERWOOD goalkeeper Dan Fawcett shone on his comeback for the club as they made light work of Stockbridge by grabbing three first-half goals.
Fawcett, who left the Potterne Park outfit in the summer to spend more time with his family, quickly settled back into the old routine as a replacement for injured custodian Adam Tong.
Tong, who punctured a lung and broke two ribs during Verwood’s 3-2 FA Vase win at Hamworthy United on September 18, is out for at least three months.
But Fawcett showed he is the ideal man to cover for Tong, while at the other end of the pitch early goals from Russell Dyer, Matt Newbery and Mike Haskins brushed aside Stockbridge.
It was a comfortable triumph for Verwood as they warmed up for the biggest game in the club’s history, their Vase first round proper home clash against Budleigh Salterton on Saturday.
Verwood: Fawcett, Elysee, Delaney, Morrison, Murray, Dyer, Smith (Moore 80), Jamison, Homer, Newbery, Haskell. Unused subs: Kelly, Lynch.
