DEFLATED boss Alex Browne admitted Wimborne Town could have “no complaints” at their disappointing exit at the hands of Dorset rivals Sherborne Town.

Wimborne paid a heavy price for squandering a couple of presentable early chances as their Western Premier Division opponents took a 2-0 interval lead.

And although Paul Roast pulled one back for the Magpies eight minutes into the second half, Tony Cunningham netted to send Wimborne spinning to defeat.

Browne, who completed the signing of Christchurch midfielder Mark Smith ahead of kick-off, said: “Sherborne deserved to win. They turned up and applied themselves better than we did. We are desperately disappointed but we can’t have any complaints.

“We started brightly and could have scored two in the first minute. Maybe we just thought it was going to be easier than it was.

James Stokoe and Jamie Davidson were the culprits as Wimborne saw two chances go begging early on.

Former Cherries apprentice Rico Wilson opened the scoring after 34 minutes before Steve Burton added a second.

And although Roast netted to throw Wimborne a lifeline after half-time, Cunningham pounced 15 minutes from time.
