LIONS continued their National Three South West form with a hard-earned 5-5 draw at Oxford Harlequins.

Tim Knapp put the hosts in front after just nine minutes, but Mike Pope’s try eight minutes before the break restored parity.

And with neither side able to break each other, or the blustery conditions, down after the restart, David Dunn’s charges were left to contemplate a second successive pointless second half at North Hinksey.

Lions: K Lynch, Payne (Hearson, 60), Edwards, Bruce, Pope, Davies, Chislett, R Lynch, Wilford, Wareham, Seward, Forrest, Le Roux, Crombie (Stevenson, 22), Ford. Unused sub: Burns.

Three penalties from evergreen Phil Graves laid the foundations for Swanage & Wareham’s 19-0 triumph over Buckingham in South West One East.

Graves slotted over two kicks before the break to put Swans in the driving seat, before a third after half-time and tries from Darren Wilcox and Chris Tomes completed the scoring.

Swans: Dunsford, Blackmore, Graves, M Cottrell, Wilcox, Smith (Jones, 61), Tomes, Woodard, R Elford, Sheldrake (Warren, 65), Weld, Andrews, Jacobs, Scott (Ford, 62), Wright.

Wimborne were made to pay for some sloppy late defending as Frome ran out 8-3 winners at Leigh Park in Southern Counties South.

The All Blacks were in front at half-time thanks to James Mikolajewski’s penalty, but the visitors hit back after the break with a three-pointer of their own.

But as the rain-affected clash looked set to end all square, Frome took advantage of a loose kick from the All Blacks defence to score the winning try.

All Blacks: Unwin, Busby, Tinsdale, Hopkins, Davies, Coulling, Champ, Morgan, J Llewellyn, Mikolajewski, van Wyk, Griffith, Brokenshire, King, Maltman, Hopkins, Wale, M Llewellyn.

North Dorset thumped Bradford on Avon 24-0 to top the Southern Counties South table.

Simon Keates (one try, two conv) opened the scoring for North, before Joe Willoughby, Chris Tuson and Tom Botterill increased the deficit.

Ellingham & Ringwood got back to winning ways in London Three South West with a convincing 36-7 win over Old Wimbledonians.

Nick Osman (two tries), Dave Budd, Alex Aarvold, Phil Osman and Josh Beavis were the Es try-scorers, with Richard Major (three conv) adding the extras.
