DORSET'S Glyn Treagus played a pivotal role as Lymington recorded a 47-run win over Portsmouth to book their place in the SPL Twenty/20 Cup final today.

But the Larks' triumph - which set up a Rose Bowl date with Ventnor on August 19 - was overshadowed by a serious facial injury to Lymington batsman Bryn Darbyshire.

Darbyshire sustained a broken nose and a suspected fractured cheekbone after he was struck by a delivery from Portsmouth's Kamran Hafeez in only the second over.

He was taken to the accident and emergency department at Lymington Hospital before later being transferred to Southampton General where he underwent a head scan.

Darbyshire was also out hit wicket in the incident as Lymington struggled to 51 for five (Morgan Rushbrook 34) before key contributions from Rob Lammiman (38) and Christian Pain (27*) saw them close on 135 for seven.

Treagus then took centre stage in the Portsmouth reply, his four overs of off-spin going for just eight runs. He also ripped out the visitors' top order and claimed a double-wicket maiden in his impressive figures (3-8).

James Lucy (3-29) helped Lymington bowl out Portsmouth for 88, while no fewer than five excellent catches in the deep, including one from 16-year-old sub fielder Josh Thacker, aided the hosts' cause.
