WEST Moors boosted their prospects of avoiding bottom spot in the Dorset Men’s Championship by winning the relegation tussle at Bridport 8-2 (46-45).
A 17-9 victory from John Riddington plus the 20-16 card of Ray Hunt gave West Moors a vital result against their table-propping hosts, who responded through Ken Hosking (20-9 against Jim Garrett).
Alexandra Park’s title hopes were rocked in a 6-4 (57-54) setback against Wellworthy, who now replace them in second place.
Although Paul King (24-13) and Alan Miller (18-15) shone for Alex, they were undermined by the 29-12 defeat suffered by Mark Wanklyn against Stuart Reed.
