BOURNEMOUTH boss David Ridley is confident the team’s batsmen will come good tomorrow – when it really matters.

Southern Premier League Division One leaders Havant visit Chapel Gate (11.30am) in a match which could go a long way to deciding the destination of this year’s championship.

Despite their heavy defeat at the hands of South Wilts last week, Bournemouth remain in second spot going into the top of the table clash.

And Ridley is hopeful Bournemouth’s batsmen – having been skittled for 63 against South Wilts – can hit form.

He told the Echo: “It’s a big game.

“We were very disappointed and got the rough end of the weather last week.

“If we beat Havant we are top of the league and we’re very keen to do that. And we’re confident. We’ve got to get some scores out of our batsmen and we’re confident they’ll come good.”

Dave Kidner is unavailable but key man Matt Metcalfe is set to return from injury.

  • Chris Jones will lead Bashley when they travel to Alton, with skipper Andy Neal unavailable.

Neal, who will be replaced in the team by Mitch Wilson, said: “We’ve been playing reasonably well over the past few weeks, but we’re just struggling to get the win.”
