ANDY Loader and Dan Adlem smashed big tons as Cranborne crushed Christchurch – but narrowly missed out on a Dorset Sunday Division One record.

Loader (147) and Adlem (131) shared an opening stand of 260 to set Cranborne on their way to a huge 412 for seven batting first in the top-flight clash.

But while the score proved comfortably enough to see off Priory, it fell just short of a division batting record.

The massive total became the second highest in top-flight history, with Colehill’s 431 in 2003 still ranking as the best.

Cranborne soon got over missing out on making history as they skittled Christchurch for 117 in the 22nd over to seal a resounding 295-run win.

Ryan Beck took centre stage with the ball, claiming four for 45.

  • Parley got their noses back in front in the race for the title – inflicting Bournemouth’s first defeat of the campaign.

Bournemouth, who had climbed to the top of the table after being handed back a 40-point deduction for alleged late payment of fees, did not last long at the summit.

Batting first, Bournemouth racked up 253 for seven, thanks largely to a 209-run stand between Chris Ridley (96) and Ian Pearce (103).

But that didn’t prove enough as Raj Naik (102*) led Parley back to pole position with a match-winning knock to follow his three wickets earlier in the match.

Naik’s support came from Roshan Embalagama (58 off 50 balls) and Tom Jacques (46 off 30 balls).

  • Studland defeated St Georges by three wickets after a brilliant and brave unbeaten 102 from opener Colin Lewis.

Lewis, injured while keeping wicket earlier in the match, completed a fine century despite having to bat his entire innings with a runner.

St Georges scored 210 for eight batting first, with John Powell (4-64) earning Studland’s best figures.

And after the target had been reduced by rain to 206 in 43 overs, Lewis produced the goods to lead his side to victory.

Meanwhile, the matches between Henstridge and Poole Town and Kingston Lacy and Blandford fell victim of the weather.

  • Lymington progressed to the Southern Electric Twenty20 Cup final after a 35-run win over local rivals Bashley on Sunday.

Morgan Rushbrook was once again the star of the show, smashing an unbeaten 94 in the victory.

Lymo face Portsmouth in the semi-finals on Sunday, August 2.
