ANGLERS continue to be rewarded with quality fish from both boat and shore locations with Steve Collins from Poole recording an end of season cod during a recent sortie on Silverspray, skippered by Andy Cummings.

The hefty cod tipped, which tipped the scales to 18lb, was caught over a mid-channel wreck and was one of three double-figure cod taken during the trip.

On the shoreline, Norman Childs from Bournemouth sampled some excellent sport during an evening session at Southbourne where he landed a trio of bass with the best tipping the scales to 6-1. He also caught a 2-1 specimen sole.

Childs, a 47-year-old gardener, used ragworm presented on a size 1/0Aberdeen hook. The sole, which set a personal best, was a real surprise in the rough conditions. All the fish were taken at close range around the 40-yard mark.
