CHERRIES’ management duo Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall both see their immediate futures at Dean Court – but know new owners may have different ideas.

The pair masterminded a remarkable turnaround when they piloted Cherries to Football League safety, culminating in Saturday’s memorable 2-1 win over Grimsby.

It marked a momentous triumph for the rookie bosses who came together for the first time in January when Cherries were 10 points adrift and heading for the Conference.

Current co-owner Paul Baker has already said he wants to reward Howe and Tindall with new contracts, even though he is actively looking to sell the club.

Baker held informal talks with the pair at Dean Court towards the end of last week, although no concrete offers have yet been tabled or discussed.

Howe is currently working without a formal contract, while Tindall is midway through the two-year deal he signed when he came in with previous boss Jimmy Quinn in September.

Speaking to the Daily Echo last night, Howe said: “I don’t think there is any doubt that Jason and myself are both very keen to stay. I know I can speak on his behalf when I say we would like to plan and build for the long term at this football club.

“We have visions of how we would like to take the club forward. We would like to put structures in place and get everything settled and sorted on the playing side before pre-season.

“We definitely feel there is so much scope to improve things on the pitch and are keen to put those measures in place. We believe the potential here is huge, both in the club and the team. In management, you need to plan long term and we definitely see our futures here.

“We would both like to stay and to have the chance to take the job and the club forward. But with so much still to be resolved off the pitch, we realise a lot of it is out of our hands.”

Howe was part of the Kevin Bond team that was shown the door at the start of last season, with owners Sport-6 drafting in Quinn and Tindall in September.

But after their ill-fated reign lasted just four months, the board turned to Howe to steady the ship and he asked Tindall to work alongside him.

Howe added: “We saw at the start of last season what can happen when new owners come in. They have different ideas about who they want to run the team and how they want the club to go forward.

“We are fully aware that the future of this football club at boardroom level is still unclear so that could impact on our positions. Until that is sorted out, we know it is going to be difficult to get any definite answers.

“But we can’t just sit and wait and it has got to be a case of business as usual until such time as we are told differently.

“We are preparing and planning for next season and are looking forward to it. It seems strange that this season hasn’t ended yet but we can’t wait for next season to start.”
