TEAM manager Garry May has admitted he’s looking towards young gun Jerran Hart to top score for Buccaneers this year.

Tapes go up on a new Elite League speedway season at Poole on Wednesday with skipper Bjarne Pedersen’s testimonial.

But Castle Cover Pirates’ newly-formed National League nursery side Bournemouth are also looking ahead to their first meeting at Isle of Wight on April 7.

May has built a strong team that many believe will push hard to take the third-tier title, and it’s Hart he feels can spearhead their challenge.

Hart, on loan from Lakeside, impressed for Premier League Newcastle and Sittingbourne, of the old Conference, last year.

That has prompted May to say: “I’ m looking for Jerran to be our top scorer, to get 12-13 points every time, and he’s capable of doing it.

“I’m hoping Jerran will be a trump card because he’s right up for this league.

“I just want him to go out and enjoy his racing, although I think he will do very well and be our number one at the end of the season.”
