BOSS Eddie Howe has invited Poole Town striker Charlie Austin to train with Cherries later this week.

The 19-year-old could link up with Howe’s squad on Thursday, providing the Dolphins give him permission.

Austin, a bricklayer by trade, is under contract to Poole.

Howe told the Daily Echo: “He has come to my attention because of the number of goals he has scored for Poole Town this season.

“We have a strong link with Poole through Steve Cuss who I worked very closely with during my time at the Centre of Excellence.

“Steve has recommended we have a look at him and I have invited him in to train with us.

“It’s not easy to score goals at any level and the fact he’s scored so many shows he could be a good prospect.

“Those are the qualities you look for in a striker and Steve also speaks highly of his attitude so he is definitely worth taking a look at.”

Austin has taken the Wessex League by storm this term, bagging 24 league goals in 20 starts for Dolphins since linking up with Tom Killick’s squad from Hungerford Town during the summer. The prolific frontman now has 32 goals from 29 appearances in all competitions to his name following his penalty against Bemerton Heath Harlequins on Saturday.
