SHWAN Jalal says he is desperate to help Cherries find a quick cure for their travel sickness and admits he is “hurting” at shipping goals on the road.

Jalal has yet to keep a clean sheet in the league away from Dean Court and has conceded no fewer than 16 times in Cherries’ past five games up and down the country.

In stark contrast, he has enjoyed four successive league and cup shut-outs on home soil, with almost seven hours elapsing since he was last beaten by Chesterfield’s Lloyd Kerry.

The stopper will be hoping for better fortunes on his travels when Cherries face League Two rivals Rochdale at Spotland tomorrow (3pm).

Jalal said: “I’m delighted with the clean sheets and so are the defenders because they take as much pride as I do in keeping them.

“The fact we’ve kept three in our past five games is brilliant, but, either side of that, we let in three goals at Accrington, Grimsby and Luton so that was disappointing.

“I can’t put my finger on it, but we seem to be conceding goals away rather than at home and it’s something we are working on in training.

“Everybody hurts when we concede that amount of goals, nobody more so than me. As a goalkeeper, the thing you hate the most is conceding goals.”

Jalal, whose only clean sheet on the road came in the 1-0 win at MK Dons in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, added: “After conceding three at Accrington, Grimsby and Luton, I’ve got to take a good look at myself and ask if I could have done better with some of the goals.

“The buck stops with me because I’m the goalkeeper and I want to take the clean sheets from home games into our away games.

“I know I haven’t kept one in the league away from home. I look at the stats and the programmes and am disappointed because I’ve kept quite a few at home.

“It’s one of those things I need to work on and I’m determined to get it right.”

Jalal knows he could have his work cut out at Spotland tomorrow, providing the clash gets the green light following today’s midday pitch inspection.

Rochdale are top of the current form table and have lost just one of their past 13 league encounters. However, they did come unstuck in the FA Cup, losing to Conference outfit Forest Green Rovers in the second round at the end of last month.

Jalal added: “Rochdale are a very good side and they got to the play-off final last season. I’ve played against them a couple of times and they have always been a very good attacking side so we know it’s going to be a tough game.

“But we’re five games unbeaten and are really confident going into the game.”
