THERE were shocks galore in Sunday’s BFA competitions, especially in the M A Hart Robbins Cup where two Hayward Sunday Premier League sides went out to lower league opposition.

Pride of place went to Verwood SSC from Division Eight of the Hayward Sunday League after Craig Golding and Tristan Dorey ensured a stunning 2-0 fourth-round victory over Division Three Boscombe Celtic.

Premier Division boys Hordle Spurs were surprisingly beaten 2-0 by Littledown of Division Two with both the goals coming from Ryan Irvin.

Richard Newman struck for Cranleigh but the Division One side also suffered a shock defeat as Ensbury Park from Division Four walloped them 6-1 through Darren Spiers and a five-goal blast from ace marksmen Gareth Barnes.

In the third round ties, Adam Gates and Russell Tickner netted for Foresters Arms but they became the second Premier Division side to bow out on the day when Rec Athletic of Division Four surprised them 4-2 with goals from Ricky Colegate (2), Scott Ison and James Carter.

Ollie Faulkner and Craig Taylor netted for AFC Hewitt Green in the other third-round tie but Pete Valinski scored all three goals to give Kinson Conservative the edge 3-2.

Back in the fourth round, three other Premier Division sides did manage to get through unscathed with Joe Kittle (2), Charlie Miles (2), Lloyd Miles, Ross Drew and Mike Artwell giving holders Bournemouth Electric a 7-3 victory over Magdon Scaffolding.

East Christchurch SSC were 5-0 winners against AFC Ringwood thanks to Alan Etherton, Wayne Etherton, Chris Forbes, Rob Fox and Matt Piovan, while Derrant Blenman and Sam Goodwin gave West Moors SSC a 2-0 success against Christchurch Royals.

Steve Gowing (2) and Jamie Iles struck for Three Cross in the third round of the M A Hart In-Excess Cup but Branksome Celtic squeezed through 4-3 thanks to Martin Beer, Kirt Holland, Matt Singleton and Justin Windle.

Shane Barney notched a hat-trick for Rossmore Athletic in the third round of the M A Hart Lawrence A Brivati Cup and, with Sam Thompson adding two more, they put paid to Tudor Rose 5-0.

Strouden Sports netted through Ali Paton and an own goal in the third round of the M A Hart Nicholas Read Cup but there was a surprise in store for them too when Sunseekers ousted them 4-2 with goals from Dave Higgins (2), Rob Townsend and Adam Tilsed.

Ace Fabrication join them in the next round after Martyn MacKinlay (2), Callum Lunn (2), Chris Meiron-Jones and Karl Nye ensured a 6-1 triumph over Horse & Jockey.
