JIMMY Quinn is exploring other options in his search for a new striker after one target yesterday shunned the chance to join Cherries.

Manager Quinn has been on the hunt for a forward since the exit of loan man Michael Rankine, but he has found available frontmen hard to come by.

Asked how the search was progressing, Quinn said: “The only one was one lad I was after. Originally he was coming but he doesn’t want to come so we’re moving on to other things.”

Quinn would not be drawn on the identity of the player in question.

Cherries have been linked with Crewe Alexandra’s Anthony Elding and Weymouth hotshot Stuart Beavon in recent weeks, but Quinn turned his attention to Salisbury City yesterday.

The Wiltshire outfit have made three strikers available for loan with immediate effect, one of whom is prolific non-league scorer Matt Tubbs, from Verwood, who spent time in the Cherries youth set-up before moving to Bolton Wanderers.

The other two Salisbury players up for grabs are Andy Sandell and Robbie Matthews.

Quinn and his assistant Jason Tindall were at yesterday’s reserve team match between Salisbury City and Bristol City.

Meanwhile, Quinn took a closer look at five trialists in a practice match at Canford School yesterday morning.

But the Cherries boss wasn’t overly impressed with the quintet.

He said: “The problem is you get people on trial and they see the position we are in the league and think it’s easy to get into our team.

“There’s a couple of lads, one I’m very interested in, but I need to have a look and chat with him and see what the script is with his club.”

One of the trialists was former West Bromwich Albion frontman Stuart Nicholson, while another was believed to be Eastleigh youngster Aaron Martin.
