CHERRIES’ under-18s came unstuck away in south Wales, losing 5-2 at Cardiff City.

Fresh off his hat-trick away at Newcastle United in the FA Youth Cup, Jonny Stuttle carried on his scoring form with a brace, but that was not enough as Cardiff came out on top thanks to goals via Jake Davies, Joseff Edwards, Louis Phillips, and a double from Trey George.

The opening 25 minutes were a cagey affair, with Cherries controlling possession without truly testing their hosts.

Shortly before the half-hour mark the deadlock was broken, Davies finishing after being slipped in by George.

The pair combined again shortly before the break, Davies teeing up George on 41 minutes.

Before Cherries could get to the safety of the half-time whistle, they would be three down as Edwards headed home at a corner.

The goals restarted just before the hour mark, with Phillips rounding off a free-kick move to make it four for the hosts.

Two minutes later, Stuttle pulled one back for Cherries, and moments later thoughts of a comeback were on as the striker converted a penalty to make it 4-2.

A scuffle in the closing stages saw Cherries’ Karlos Gregory and Cardiff’s Jac Thomas dismissed, before a penalty for Cardiff scored by George sealed the game off two minutes from time.
