BOURNEMOUTH Bobcats will face a road trip in the play-offs this weekend, despite ending the regular season with a 48-0 thumping of Oxford Saints.

Bobcats hoped the win would be enough to secure home advantage, but results elsewhere mean they will instead travel to Finsbury Park to take on London Blitz B.

The wild card game this Sunday pits two clubs who ended with records reading six wins and four defeats so far this season.

Oxford, who finished rock bottom of SFC One West of the British American Football Association, turned over play at the start against Bobcats with a successful onside kick.

But Bournemouth defence held firm, setting the platform to take the lead with Sam Chance delivering to Taryn Joe from 42 yards.

Another interception was followed by another Joe touchdown, before David Isaacs recovered a fumbled snap and took into the endzone. Chris Hobbs then made it 28-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Kieran Higgins added to the scoresheet as the lead extended to 41-0 at the half-time break.

After a running clock was introduced, speeding up the game, a final touchdown late arrived, caught by Harrison Cooper.

Bobcats finished second in the division, behind unbeatable Hertfordshire Cheetahs.
