ROB McTaggart returned to form to win the second race of the Upton Summer Series.

McTaggart came through a field of 205 to win the seniors’ race, with 95 juniors completing the shorter course.

The Bournemouth AC runner shaved over 30 seconds off his time in race one, finishing in 18:51.

Poole Runners duo Lewis Clarke (18:58) and Dion Garner (19:18) rounded off the top three.

Meanwhile in the women’s standings the front three remained unchanged from the first race, with Emily Hilliar (Poole AC, 21:19) taking first place for a second time.

She was followed home by Jenny-Lee Marshall (Purbeck Runners, 22:06) and Kate Wilkinson (Poole Runners, 22:16), who also won her age group in the 14-17 category.

In the team standings Poole Runners remain the first team home in the men’s race, and the Poole Runners women have stepped up to the plate too this week. After coming second to Poole AC in the last race, they took the lead in this event.

Attendees will be scored based on their best four position finishes over the six races, with prizes available for all age and gender category winners.

The third of the six race series will take place on Wednesday, June 21.
