NEW Milton teenager Carla Rudkin-Guillen added to her medals tally, taking gold at the Hungarian Tatami Cup.

Competing in the junior category for the first time, the 16-year-old was largely seeking to gain experience at the level, rather than expect to battle for honours.

However, Rudkin-Guillen was in fine form in Budapest.

The Southern England Karate Federation-trained star defeated Slovakian number one Natalia Lea in the final of the kumite.

Rudkin-Guillen also won bronze in the junior kata, beating world number seven Natalie Malafova.

Focus now turns to preparations for the 2024 European Karate Championships, with Rudkin-Guillen hoping to be selected.

She is next in action in Spain and France later this month, continuing in her quest to compete with top internationals at her new junior category level.
