CHERRIES boss Kevin Bond has today made an 11th-hour swoop for Southampton youngster Adam Lallana.

The 19-year-old striker has joined his hometown club, initially on a month's loan.

And Lallana is expected to make his debut in tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round clash at Bristol Rovers.

Lallana, who started out in the Bournemouth Youth League and was on Cherries' books as a schoolboy, has been restricted to two appearances for Saints.

He was handed his debut in a Carling Cup victory over Yeovil in August 2006 before taking his bow in the Championship during a 1-1 draw with Preston just days later.

Lallana, who attended St Peter's School in the town, also scored on his debut for England under-18s in a 2-1 win against Slovenia at Dean Court 18 months ago.

He can operate as an out-and-out striker or just behind the front two and has been drafted in by Cherries to help bolster their flagging resources.
