RANGERS are reportedly eyeing a loan deal for Cherries defender Jack Simpson, according to the Sunday Mail.

The publication claimed Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard “wants to make the 21-year-old centre-back his 11th signing of the summer”.

Simpson in January signed a new contract at Cherries which will keep him at the club until at least June 2020.

He earned four senior appearances for the Dorset club last season and scored on his debut in the 3-1 Carabao Cup home victory over Middlesbrough in October.

The centre-half was also given his first Premier League appearance when he played 72 minutes of Cherries’ 4-0 loss at Manchester City in December.

Schooled at Wey Valley, Simpson featured in Cherries’ 2-0 defeat to Real Betis on Friday and was left out of yesterday's 5-2 home win over Marseille.
