STRIKER Sam Surridge set his sights on firing Oldham Athletic to promotion from League Two.

The 20-year-old yesterday joined the Latics on a season-long loan from Cherries.

Surridge told the Oldham website: “I’m really happy to finally get it done. It has been going on for a few weeks.

“I came here for a Youth Cup match so I know what the stadium and atmosphere will be like and my first impressions are really good.

“I like to put myself about and work hard.

“I score goals, that’s what I want to do and that’s what I’m here for. I want to score as many as I can and get us promoted.”

Surridge has spent time on loan at Weymouth and Poole Town and scored 10 goals in 53 appearances while at Yeovil Town last season.

Discussing his time at Huish Park. Surridge said: “It was hard. I learnt lots of things about keeping a level head and how to use my body.”

The frontman believes Oldham boss Frankie Bunn can get the best out of him.

Surridge added: “The gaffer has said he wants to develop me and with him being an ex-striker, that is one of the main reasons I’m here. He can show me a few things.”

Oldham begin their league campaign against visitors MK Dons on Saturday.
