THRILLED boss Matt Ford reckons the 58-32 demolition of Leicester has sent a warning to Pirates’ SGB Premiership rivals.
Poole reeled off no fewer than seven 5-1s on the spin during Wednesday’s emphatic victory at Wimborne Road.
Ford told the club website: “After Monday’s slight disappointment at not claiming three points at King’s Lynn, this was almost the complete performance and was just what we needed.
“Chris Harris coming in has added a little grit which perhaps we had been missing and his presence has lifted both riders and supporters.
“We’re coming good at the perfect time and are sending out a suitable warning that we should be taken seriously when it comes to the play-offs.”
Seven of Pirates’ nine 5-1s came after a 20-minute break following heat seven to allow the sun to set and track work to take place.
Team boss Neil Middleditch said: “Early on, the track wasn’t the greatest but it’s very difficult in these weather conditions to get the right amount of water down without adding too much.
“We took a break and got some work done and the track really came to us then. It was a great meeting and a great result for the boys.
“We have to keep pushing on and winning at home.”
