KACPER Woryna is optimistic his first trip to Croatian track Gorican can prove positive as he bids to take a step towards the Speedway European Championship.

A top-three finish in tomorrow's qualifier would guarantee progress to the SEC Challenge for the Pirates star, who joined the Dorset club as a full asset last summer.

Woryna's only experience of the SEC to date came when he competed as a wild card at Rybnik in 2016, the Pole scoring six points from five rides.

Discussing his chances in his semi-final, Woryna told the Daily Echo: "Anything can happen but I'm confident I can qualify.

"If I want to be the best in the world, I have to race in meetings like this. Reaching the SEC would be a step forward, for sure.

"I've never been to Gorican so it will be even tougher for me.

"We have practice in the afternoon so I will get used to the track but I don't have the knowledge about set-ups.

"If you have a good engine, the set-up is not a problem so, hopefully, I will have one good engine with me."

The SEC Challenge is due to take place at Terenzano on Saturday, May 5.
