CHERRIES star Adam Smith will miss tomorrow's trip to Southampton but could return for the home clash with Swansea City.

Smith, who turns 27 on Sunday, sustained knee ligament damage during the 2-1 win over West Brom in mid-March.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe said: “Adam is not back yet but he’s making good progress.

"It was an injury which looked like it would be season-ending but he went to see various specialists – no operation.

“Next week could be a possibility but we’ll wait and see."

Midfielder Harry Arter, who has not played in the Premier League since New Year's Day, pulled up in training this week.

“I don’t know how long he will be out at this stage," said Howe.

“He has tendinitis in both Achilles so he’s definitely going to miss this game and then we’ll wait and see after that."

Howe left the door open for an appearance for Tyrone Mings before the end of the season.

Asked if the towering defender could feature again this campaign, Howe said: “Possibly, he’s done well. He’s had two games and a good portion of training, so he’s definitely in a better place.

“His performances have been pretty good, so I’m happy with him."
