CHERRIES goalkeeper Asmir Begovic tipped talented striker Lys Mousset to be an important player for the club in the future.

Mousset came off the bench to fire home his second Premier League goal during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last time out.

A £5.4m signing from Le Havre in the summer of 2016, the France under-21 international also scored against Stoke in February and Wigan in the FA Cup third round a month previously.

Asked how far Mousset could progress, Begovic replied: “With a player like that, it’s up to him. He can go all the way and be a huge player for us.

“He’s a cool guy and a young kid with plenty of energy and ability. Hopefully, he will keep growing and developing and will be an important player for us in the future.

“He is still very young, raw and has a lot to learn but he is such a great guy. He has a good work-ethic and is someone who can go very far in the game.”

Mousset could once again be involved when Cherries take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday (5.30pm).

Begovic has been ever-present for Eddie Howe’s men in the top flight this season, keeping five clean sheets in 33 appearances.

He has featured 12 times against the Reds throughout his career, winning on five occasions.
