STEVE Way dominated the Bournemouth half marathon, reports Nigel Harding.

The Bournemouth AC veteran won by almost two minutes in a time of 70 min 32 sec.

Way achieved this on top of racing 50km in 2:58:03 eight days previously as he prepares for a second foray to the prestigious Comrades Marathon in South Africa.

Poole AC’s Amy Bond ran 86:35 for third in the women’s half marathon won by Charnwood AC’s Katie Synge in 82:25.

PAC’s Chris Alborough clocked a 34:37 personal best as runner-up to Guildford’s Callum Gillett (34:14) in the 10km event.

Former European Cross-Country champion Hayley Higham was third woman in 40:12.

Bournemouth AC and England ultra-distance ace Anthony Clark finished runner-up in the National 100km Championships for a second successive year.

This time, he was just seven seconds behind the winner as he clocked 7:00:37.

Two Wimborne AC cross-country runners achieved English Schools honours.

Grace Copeland ran in Paris, placing 52nd at the World Schools’ Championships, while Emily Shaw gained team gold as sixth finisher in the Home International at Nottingham.
