DEFENDER Geva Mentor has been selected to represent England at a fifth Commonwealth Games.

The Bournemouth-born ace will hope to add to her medal tally on Australia’s Gold Coast, having won bronze at both Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010.

A former pupil at St Peter’s School, the 33-year-old Sunshine Coast Lightning skipper has played club netball Down Under for a decade and was last year named player of the year in the top flight.

Mentor and co have been drawn in Pool B alongside New Zealand, Malawi, Wales, Scotland and Uganda.

Head coach Tracey Neville said: “There were some tough decisions made in selection.

“The 12 athletes selected offer us versatility, strength in particular court areas and units, and a wealth of experience with players who can lead the team from the front.”

England finished fourth at Glasgow 2014 and have won bronze three times since netball was introduced to Commonwealths in 1998.

Neville’s side head to Australia off the back of some of the best results in the team’s history, with victories over South Africa and New Zealand helping them to their best finish in the prestigious Quad Series.
