RESURGENT Asmir Begovic was pleased to leave behind the memory of his Boxing Day disappointment against West Ham.

The Bosnian stopper was culpable for two of the Hammers' goals in the 3-3 draw but responded in fine style in Saturday's rematch, a 1-1 draw at London Stadium.

Giving a solid all-round display, Begovic's most impressive moment came when he brilliantly tipped over Marko Arnautovic's close-range shot during the first half.

Reflecting on his performance, Begovic said: “I didn’t want to give them too many more points.

"What happened on Boxing Day was unfortunate and one of those things. The gods weren’t looking down on me. But today it was nice to contribute and help us get a good result.

“The bottom line is that a point away from home is never a bad result and we continued our unbeaten run."

Chicharito cancelled out Ryan Fraser's second-half opener after Steve Cook and Nathan Ake had failed to deal with a long ball forward.

And Begovic added: “There are probably a couple of things we need to analyse.

“It’s one of those things. A bit of luck sometimes goes a long way and it was unfortunate timing. If we had stayed in front for five minutes then I would have been confident of getting the win."
