RISING star Millie Wicks is hoping to raise cash so she can compete for global glory in Cape Town.
The 10-year-old has qualified for the UIPM Laser-Run World Championship, a pentathlon discipline which sees athletes alternate between shooting a laser pistol and running.
A pupil at Baden-Powell and St Peter's Junior School, Millie qualified for the prestigious event via the British Championship and was then selected to don Team GB colours.
Millie's trip is entirely self-funded so she is hoping Echo readers will help her out via justgiving.com/crowdfunding/millie-capetown.
The youngster is also a member of Poole Swimming Club and Branksome Chine Surf Livesaving Club, the latter of which she has competed with at national level.
Part of the set-up at Leweston Pentathlon Academy in Sherborne, Millie finished fourth at the European Championship in Portugal.
