RISING amateur star Jack Singh Brar has been selected to represent Great Britain & Ireland in the 46th Walker Cup.
The 20-year-old, who is based at Remedy Oak, is part of a 10-strong team to take on America in the matchplay showpiece at the Los Angeles Country Club next month.
With the event taking place from September 9-10, Singh Brar is part of a Great Britain & Ireland team looking to defend the trophy following their 2015 victory at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
The visitors also include British Amateur champion Harry Ellis, Alfie Plant, who won the silver medal at The Open, and St Andrews Links Trophy winner Matthew Jordan.
Great Britain & Ireland captain Craig Watson said: “We have been very impressed with the performances of many of the Great Britain & Ireland players so far this season and it has been a difficult decision to select only 10 players.
“The Americans will be determined not to lose two matches in a row but we have selected a strong team and I’m sure the players will give it their all to try to retain the trophy.”
Singh Brar has already enjoyed a notable season.
He finished tied for seventh in the European Amateur Championship and won the prestigious Lytham Trophy in May.
