BOURNEMOUTH’S Georgia Hall will today make her Solheim Cup debut after being selected by Team Europe captain Annika Sorenstam for the morning foursomes.
Hall will partner Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist against Team USA duo Paula Creamer and Austin Ernst in the penultimate match at Des Moines, Iowa (8.34 central time, 2.34 GMT).
Wallisdown-raised Hall, 21, and 25-year-old Ernst are both rookies, while experienced Solheim Cup competitors Nordqvist and Creamer have both won a major.
Keen Cherries fan Hall, who is currently third on the Ladies’ European Tour order of merit, heads into the tournament on the back of finishing tied third at the Ricoh Women’s British Open, her best placing in a major.
The former Elmrise Primary and Oakmead School pupil has played in six LPGA tournaments this year, making the cut in all and earning three top-10 finishes.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Hall said: “It's kind of a dream come true for me to represent Europe and play in the Solheim Cup.
“It's my first time, so I'm really excited to get going tomorrow. We've got a fantastic team. We get along really well and I think it's going to get better throughout the week.”
Hall featured for Europe in the Junior Solheim Cup in 2013, claiming a foursomes win with Bronte Law and a halved singles match with Casey Danielson as the hosts won the trophy on home soil.
America are the holders of the Solheim Cup after winning 14½-13½ in Germany in 2015, a victory that gave them an overall lead of 9-5 in the event's history.
