KEVIN Walker served notice of his considerable potential by roaring to triple gold at the National Junior Athletics Championship in Coventry.

The 13-year-old wheelchair racer showed his sprinting talent during victories in the under-14 T34 100m, 200m and 400m.

And he could have made it four successes out of four in the 800m but was denied by a blown tyre at the start of the race.

While Walker's times in the 100m (23.28 secs) and 400m (85.78 secs) were impressive, it was his 200m effort which really caught the eye.

The St Aldhelm's Academy pupil clocked 43.24 seconds, comparable to that recorded by six-time Paralympic gold medallist David Weir at the same age.

Meanwhile, Walker was among four Poole AC wheelchair racers who took part in the recent Summer 5k Series in Yeovil.

Nathan Blackie was the first Poole athlete home in 14:17 and he was followed by club-mate Lindsay Chapman in 17:52.

Walker banked a personal best of 19:30 seconds while his fellow junior, George Trip, crossed the line in 40.13.
