PIRATES chief Matt Ford fears controversial Ekstraliga regulations could soon be extended.

New rules in Poland's top flight decree riders must supply documentation from their foreign clubs confirming Polish dates take priority if a fixture clash occurs.

Ford was asked by Torun to sign documents to guarantee the availability of Jack Holder but said there was "no chance" he would do so.

And the Wimborne Road promoter believes the rules could be extended next year, potentially impacting further on British speedway.

He said: "It's the Ekstraliga now but next year it will be the second and third tier as well. They are trying to hold a gun to our heads."

Ford has already stated he is comfortable with Krzysztof Kasprzak racing for Gorzow instead of Pirates in the event of a clash, given Poland is his home nation.

Kasprzak and Holder are the only Poole riders signed for Ekstraliga clubs ahead of the new season.
