MATT Ford is adamant Jack Holder and Brady Kurtz will follow in the footsteps of Chris Holder and Darcy Ward – arguably Poole's greatest double act.

Known as the Turbo Twins, Chris Holder and Ward were the darlings of Wimborne Road when they raced alongside each other to help Pirates claim three Elite League crowns.

Former world champion Chris won two additional top-flight titles but departed for King's Lynn during the winter following nine years at the Dorset club.

The career of Ward, a two-time world under-21 champion, was ended by a racing crash in Poland in August 2015 which left him with serious spinal damage.

Pirates promoter Ford believes the era of the iconic Aussies will never be bettered but insists compatriots Jack Holder and Kurtz could match those levels.

Ford told the Daily Echo: "I wrote in my programme notes during the Chris and Darcy days, 'please come and watch this because it doesn't get better' and I stick by that now. In my opinion, that is as good as it gets.

"On the positive side, when I introduced them, Chris and Darcy weren't Grand Prix riders and they became established superstars of our sport.

"There is absolutely no doubt, in my opinion, that Brady and Jack will do the same thing.

"In five, six, seven or eight years when they move on, people will say 'how are you going to cope without them?'. We will find someone else to take their mantle.

"I always look to tomorrow and try to make sure we are ahead of the game with signing the next best and in these two kids we have a great chance."
