SKIPPER Simon Francis says Cherries will "clear up" the confusion around the identity of the team's penalty taker before Saturday's game with Swansea.

Joshua King missed from the spot against West Ham last weekend, which led to uncertainty over who would step up when Cherries were awarded their second penalty of the afternoon.

That responsibility ultimately fell to Benik Afobe, who saw his effort kept out by Hammers 'keeper Darren Randolph.

Cherries had scored all seven of their spot-kicks this season prior to that double failure.

Nevertheless, Junior Stanislas and Callum Wilson grappled over the ball when Cherries won a penalty against Hull back in October – Stanislas eventually rifling home.

And there was some dispute over who would do the job before King converted from 12 yards against West Brom last month.

Francis told the Daly Echo: "That is something we need to clear up. There are little arguments going on and it’s not great for team morale.

"I think we will identify a definite taker for the next penalties we are awarded. We have to decide who will take them for sure.

"We do not want to see any arguing over it."

Cherries shrugged off their penalty nightmare to beat West Ham 3-2 and Francis was delighted his team delivered a result that repaid their supporters' loyal backing.

"Our fans have been brilliant this season, home and away." he added.

"They are turning out in their thousands and it is them we put on performances for.We wanted to give them something to cheer about."
