EDDIE Howe believes Cherries have a duty to create more chances in order to help Callum Wilson get the goals he craves.

The pacy striker is the club's top scorer this season with six goals, with Joshua King and Junior Stanislas next on the list on four apiece.

Wilson's past three efforts have come from the penalty spot, meaning he has not scored in open play since the 6-1 trouncing of Hull in mid-October.

Howe has tinkered with his frontline of late with Benik Afobe increasingly involved.

But regardless, the Cherries boss wants the 24-year-old Wilson, when selected, to receive the best possible service.

Howe told the Daily Echo: "Callum is a confident boy and when you see him work every day, his ability is unquestionable.

"From his perspective, he would love to be hitting the net on a more regular basis but I think that's the challenge and the demands of the Premier League.

"And I think it's up to us as a team to create more for him. We haven't always done that this season.

"I think it's a challenge all-round because ideally you want your strikers and your attacking players scoring regularly."

Wilson has already surpassed his goals return from last season – five – which he totalled during an injury-ravaged campaign.
