BRADY Kurtz won the final round of the Australian Senior Solo Championship at Kurri Kurri but former Pirates star Sam Masters was crowned overall champion.
The 20-year-old Kurtz, who roared to the title last year, triumphed in three of his five qualifying rides and banked two second places.
Having secured a direct route to the A final, the Poole charger then saw off Nick Morris, Troy Batchelor and Masters in the showpiece race.
That allowed Kurtz to finish seventh overall, two spots ahead of Pirates' off-season signing Jack Holder.
Doubling-up rider Holder fell twice during the meeting – coming away with only minor wrist damage – and managed just three points.
Overall result (top 10): 1 Sam Masters 58, 2 Justin Sedgmen 55, 3 Davey Watt 50, 4 Troy Batchelor 49, 5 Max Fricke 47, 6 Nick Morris 43, 7 Brady Kurtz 42, 8 Rohan Tungate 30, 9 Jack Holder 26, 10 Ty Proctor 22.
