NICOLAI Klindt is excited by the prospect of starting the season at reserve for Pirates – as it boosts his earning potential.

Wolverhampton asset Klindt was recruited by Pirates earlier this week on a 5.42 average and looks set to take his place in the bottom two for the start of the SGB Premiership campaign.

Promoter Matt Ford has 14.34 points with which to recruit the final two riders in his one-to-seven.

And with Klindt primed to take his place at the lower end of the order, the World Cup silver medallist reckons he can ramp up his average.

He told the Daily Echo: “The good thing about Poole is I can start at reserve and that means a lot to me because I have the chance to get more rides and more money.

“This year I put a handful of points on my average and I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t do the same next year.”

On the continent, Klindt has finalised deals with Krakow in Poland, Indianerna in Sweden and Esbjerg in Denmark.

The 27-year-old won the Elite League title with Wolves in 2009, Peter Adams's side beating Swindon in the play-off final.

Pirates 2017: Krzysztof Kasprzak 11.07, Hans Andersen 10.01, Jack Holder 7.16, Nicolai Klindt 5.42, James Shanes 2.00.
