EDDIE Howe has congratulated Glenn Murray on his form at Brighton – while the player himself is convinced he would still be prolific in the Premier League.

Cherries striker Murray has spearheaded the Seagulls' promotion push since joining the Sussex outfit on a season-long loan.

Murray bagged a hat-trick in Brighton's 5-0 thumping of Norwich at the end of last month and has scored nine goals in 16 Championship appearances for one of his former clubs.

Howe told the Daily Echo: "Muzz is a very good player – a goalscorer. It’s great to see him scoring and doing well for Brighton and playing regularly.

"We’re delighted he’s continuing his good early season form and I’m sure that will continue throughout the season."

Murray, 33, joined Cherries in a £4million move from Crystal Palace in September 2015 and started six of his 19 outings in the club's debut top-flight campaign, scoring three goals.

Having also played in the Premier League for the Eagles, Murray said he was keen for another chance to prove his worth at the highest level.

"As a professional footballer, you've got to believe in yourself, at any level," he told The Argus.

"As soon as you stop believing, there is no point pulling on the shirt.

"I believe if we (Brighton) did get to the Premier League then I could still score goals at that level and think my record there stands that up with previous clubs I've been at."
