POOLE riders took two of the three top spots on offer at the British South West Individual Championships at Harbourside Raceway.

Fifteen-year-old Ben Tinsdale was the first of the Poole contingent to top the rostrum when he raced away with the junior title.

It was nearly a Poole one-two but Fraser Garnett was restricted to a nonetheless impressive third by Oxford’s Will Jeffery.

In the women's final, pre-meeting favourite Lauren Hookway succumbed to a spectacular crash while taking on a trio of home riders.

Exeter's Hookway was excluded after suffering a spill while attempting to round former British under-13 champion Macie Schmidt.

The re-run saw Schmidt take an early lead and race clear for victory with club-mate Chloe Albin doing enough to see off Maddie Saunders for second.

Poole's hopes of a clean sweep were dealt a body blow in the open final when Maciej Ganczarek was excluded for an infringement at the start.

In the Pole's absence, Aaron Smith and Dean Hook flew the flag for the host club against Zac Payne.

Oxford rider Payne used all of his experience to hold off the hard-charging duo and take the chequered flag.
